A brainteaser on the Saturday afternoon.
Since it was already almost 10 years ago is that we have this thing wrote, was ‘t was time again for a little refresher. This Jiotto Caspita was intended as a genuine Formula 1 racer for the street. Quite right too, because at the end of years ’80 was the supercarhype in full swing with, of course, the Porsche 959 and the Ferrari F40.
In order for this trend to hook spooned builder Dome than a flat V12 in the back of the originally Japanese Caspita. This power source was in fact a teruggetuned F1-block of Motori Moderni and -Yes!- Subaru. The gearbox was from Weismann, an American company that is also the McLaren F1 of a ‘container provided. Subaru, however, had few pull more in, a expensive F1 adventure without decent results, and pulled the plug out. Way motor.
Later, the Jiotto Caspita powered by a Judd V10, which is also a raceblok. This engine delivered a solid 577 hp @ 10.750 rpm and 384 Nm @ 10.500 rpm. That are indeed values to come home. Unfortunately threw the recession in the early ’90 a spanner in the works because the demand for such extreme and especially expensive supercars evaporated so roughly. That this particular car has a target price of (converted to now), 1.3 million dollars would have helped.
The stats of the Caspita were anything but childish. The car raffelde 0 – 100 km/h in 4,7 count and got a top speed of 320 km/h. Also weighed this gift concept car that the production stage unfortunately didn’t make it just a 1.240 kg. Da’s nie veul.
To the needle of the scale is not too far off to save, got the Caspita not outside of a few LCD screens in the interior, no form of luxury. No air conditioning, no cupholders, actually only the hoogstnodige. Exactly what the purist today, says to want to. In addition, the chassis are built out of CFRP. That process was so complicated, that the construction of a single monocoque, more than two months time took.
Last but not least: the appearance of the Caspita is actually quite successful, especially if you were in the right time, place. In addition, the gull-wing doors was still something really very special and the Group C-style body you see today, back on hypercars. A particular thing so, with a somewhat unfortunate name.
