Foxconn takes Sharp control for $ 6.2 billion

Sharp accepted the offer from Foxconn about buying a 65.9 percent stake. The fact of the transaction is confirmed by the Japanese press release Sharp.

According to Japanese business publication Nikkei, the amount of the transaction amounted to 700 billion yen, which is about 6.2 billion U.S. dollars. This amount was more than the offer from the investment group, Innovation Network Corp. of Japan supported by the Japanese government. Note that in early February, Foxconn offered only 659 billion yen ($5.5 billion), but the price had to raise to beat the competitor.

As expected, the result of the deal Foxconn can begin to produce and market their own products under the Sharp brand, but so far it has not been officially confirmed.
