You read that right. This huge tin beast is indeed more fuel efficient than a Toyota Prius. After all, there is nothing better in the world than just a 14% additional tax liability to pay while you are in a luxury limousine rides.

Porsche did with the Panamera S E-Hybrid already see that it is possible to make an economical cruiser. The Panamera came to 3.1 l/100 km and this Mercedes is a bit more economical with 3 liters per 100 kilometers (69 grams of Co2 p/km).

Under the hood we find no poor four-cylinder engine, but a blown 3.0-liter V6 that 333 hp/480 Nm provides. In addition, there is an electric motor mounted with a power output of 109 hp/340 Nm. Thanks to the battery pack, with a plug to recharge, is this S500 to 30 kilometers purely electric driving.

The top speed is 250 km/h and the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5,5 seconds. A Prius does that sprint in 10,4 seconds and consumes an average of 3.9 l/100 km. Have not the illusion that you are ever actually only 3,0 litres per 100 kilometres is going to consume with this S-Class. That is mainly theoretical, but for the addition is that nothing happens.

Mercedes will be the S500 Plug-In Hybrid next month in Frankfurt to officially reveal and next year he will appear on the market. In addition to these plug-in hybrid the S-Class is also available as a S300 BlueTEC Hybrid and S400 Hybrid.
