Porsche 911 Turbo S - et tu?
If we the German press are to be believed, we can in the coming years, a substantial number of new motorgeneraties of Porsche expect. Keywords: everything except the 911 GT3 (RS) is turbogeblazen, and at the top of the list is a 5.0-litre achtcilinder with 750-800 hp, intended for the ‘960’.

How serious we the messages of Auto Zeitung have to take, the future will show, but the information is separately detailed. The current lineup consists of six-cylinder boxermotoren (2.9, 3.4 and 3.8 liter), a new 3.0 liter V6 Turbo (Panamera facelift and the upcoming Macan), an older and 3.6-liter V6, a 4.8 liter V8 (GTS and Turbo models). The 918 Spyder has a 4,6 litre V8.

In the coming years is the following:

– For the Boxster and Cayman a 2.0/2.5 litre four-cylinder engine monoturbo-boxer

The 2.5 would be a turbo with variable turbinegeometrie (VTG) get on board, for the 2.0 Porsche a conventional turbo with a wastegate in mind. The 2.0 is probably according to a modular principle built, so as to have more parts with the 3.0 to be able to share. Performance: 270 hp in the 2.0 to 380 horsepower in the 2.5 liter. That fits, of course, also great in the Macan.

– A 3.0-litre six-cylinder biturbo-boxer engine for the 911

Also here is a VTG charger, on each cylinder bank one. Here is a basic power of 420 hp is spoken. This is down as well as up to screws, depending on the many, many 911 variants that will come. In addition, it is less expensive than two different blocks to use, like now with the 3.4 and 3.8 it is the case.

Variabele Turbinegeometrie

– A 5.0-litre biturbo achtcilinder boxer for the 960

This is on the basis of the current 3.8-litre six-cylinder boxer engine built (that in the GT3 RS 4.0 is the ‘right’ engine power knew), and will 5.067 cc large. Rumors about a achtpitter for the 960 have been in existence longer, although the last time that we heard was talk about four turbos, instead of two.

V6/V8 engines

The newly developed 3.0-litre V6 in the larger models (Panamera, Macan, Cayenne) play a central role. Probably press the block the atmospheric V8 from the lineup. The blown V8 will remain, for the Turbo (S) models.

The lover of the atmospheric engine, if this information is correct, in the future have to move away to the Porsche 911 GT3 or GT3 RS. For the rest, it is all supercharging, a trend that is almost impossible not to go, or you have to go to Lamborghini and Ferrari, who are still without iron lungs.

We can use this information unfortunately not on authenticity check, but it seems to us strong that everything from the thick German thumb. In any case it’s nice fodder for discussion at an extra-light Cayman with a four cylinder engine I have, at least not directly major objections.
