The man who today, what design concerns calls the shots at Jaguar, has many more interesting designs on his name. We made a selection.
After studies at the prestigious Royal College of Art in London, taught Ian Callum, the intricacies of the business at Ford. In the beginning worked, Callum mainly to parts of cars, but not much later he provided major contributions to, for example, the RS200 and the Escort RS Cosworth.
Callum continued his career at TWR, where he, among others, the famous Nissan R390 signed. In addition, worked with the designer on the Aston Martin DB7 that for a large part of the familiegezicht of the British brand certain. Today he is the director of design of Jaguar, so we have the wonderful F-Type is due to him.
1. Jaguar C-X75
Jaguar had big plans with this C-X75, which in the first instance, with electric motors and gas turbines would be supplied with an output of around 800 hp. Later there would be a hybrid production version coming, but to our great sadness was that there is not. Don’t worry, we will soon be able him on the big screen for all to admire. The Jaguar gets a role in the new James Bond.
2. Aston Martin DB7 Vantage
As said before, for a large part shaped the face for the Aston Martin now. Started its life with a six-in-line, but was later shipped with is the only source of power in that wonderful carriage paste: a thick V12.
3. Ford Escort RS Cosworth
The former Escort was not exactly for its sexy lines, but the huge taartschep and other racy touches made it a sought-after rallybommetje for on the street. Oh yes, the 220 hp + 310 Nm under the hood helped also to lend a hand.
4. Jaguar F-Type
The F-Type is worldwide so in the flavor cases that almost no one on the XK hear. Certainly not unjustified, because Jaguars hooligan sounds great and looks very beautiful.
5. Aston Martin V12 Vanquish
The last Aston Martin with a real own face? There is about to argue, but that the Vanquish has to be in the future a classic to be obvious. And we’re not even talking about his eargasmic soundtrack.
6. Nissan R390
A brute homologatieracer of which unfortunately only two straatlegale copies are built. The R390 got a top speed of 220 mph (= more than 350 km/h) thanks to the 550 hp twinturbo V8. It Was in 1997 and 1998 unfortunately, not too successful at Le Mans.
7. Aston Martin DB9
Proof that a strong design no flourishes necessary? In any case, a beautiful car, this DB9, which is powered by a 450 hp strong V12. In terms of design is clearly an evolution of the aforementioned DB7.
