Figure of the day:

$250 000 000

For the same amount Microsoft buys SwiftKey.

Microsoft was going to buy the company SwiftKey for a quarter of a billion dollars. This was reported by the authoritative edition of the Financial Times. According to a source, the deal should be announced officially soon.

Recall, SwiftKey is the developer of the popular app-keyboard for typing text on mobile devices running the operating systems Android and iOS.

A version for Android was released in 2010 and has gained popularity thanks to advanced predictive algorithms, working smarter than in most cases and able to use the user texts in emails and social networks for more accurate prediction. In 2014 there was a version for iOS, after the release of iOS 8 support for third-party keyboards. In the autumn of last year, SwiftKey announced the first keyboard with the use of neural networks.

At the moment SwiftKey runs on over 300 million devices.

UpDate: Microsoft and SwiftKey confirmed the conclusion of a final agreement on the acquisition. The transaction amount was not disclosed by the companies in the official report.
