Tesla Fabriek
The last few years a few large car companies acquired or names of companies for a large share in a other manufacturer. The price paid is in many cases similar to, but consistent total not with what some manufacturers (read: Tesla) are worth on the stock exchange.

Small car manufacturers have for years, and it is difficult. Do you want to survive in the tough car market, with fierce competition and minimal margins, it is impossible not to be part of a larger group. Scaling-up seems to be the magic word and the last few years we have a lot of shares back and forth to see slide. According to Bertel Schmitt of the Daily Kanban purchase automobile manufacturers prefer other manufacturers when these are used in heavy weather condition and nearly or completely bankrupt. Not only can you a good competitive price terms, you can also simply unnecessary staff and little productive plants.

We look at two major acquisitions, those of Volvo and Chrysler, respectively Geely, and Fiat, and to the large investment of Donfeng in PSA, then it appears that these companies in similar amounts are appreciated. Not so much in absolute value, but especially if you look at the price that is paid per produced car per year: roughly $ 5000, according to Schmitt

Bedrijfaandeelinvoor (billion)jaarjaarproductieprijs per car

Geely100 %Volvo Is$ 1.5 2010312.000$ 4.806

Dongfeng14 %PSA$ 2,0520142.833.781$ 5.167

Fiat100 %Chrysler$ 10,4020102.371.427$ 4.386

Aabar Investments9 %Daimler$ 2,6320091.447.953$ 20.201

The largest spekkoper seems to be Fiat. They bought Chrysler for 4,35 billion dollars, although the final amount much higher because they are at the same time, with Chrysler also the huge pension obligations of the manufacturer have taken over. Incidentally, earned Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles in 2013, already more than more with Chrysler than Fiat, so a bad move has ome Marchionne would not be done.

Good running car manufacturers seem to be a lot more expensive, an investment fund from Abu Dhabi paid a whopping 2,63 billion dollar for a stake of 9 percent in the Daimler AG in 2009. Per produced car in that year, that adds up to more than twenty thousand dollars. We look at the current value of BMW (ca. 74,2 billion dollars) and we put that against the estimated production and 2015 (to 2.03 million cars), then you get even on a value in use 36.556 dollar per produced car. Successful car manufacturers are so much higher valued.

And Tesla then? Elon Musk’s Tesla Motors is on the stock exchange valued at 25.2 billion dollars. Predict exactly how many cars Tesla in 2015 are going to sell is difficult. In 2016 the company is 100,000 cars to sell says its flamboyant CEO. We go out of that number, Tesla is valued at 252.000 dollars per produced car per year. And that is on the basis of sales numbers that Tesla this year anyway, not gonna make it. Incidentally, explained to Tesla itself, in 2014, about $ 8000 per produced Model S.
