Penalties in China for wrongful execution

BEIJING –

China has 27 government officials punished in connection with the wrongful execution of a teenager. The achtienjarige boy was in 1996 sentenced to death for the rape and murder of a woman, but a serieverkrachter well-known in 2005, the woman was murdered.

The authorities have 26 civil servants ‘administrative penalties, including warnings and negative reviews’ imposed, reported state news agency Xinhua Sunday. The 27th officer is also of other offences suspected and is currently being investigated.

The teenager was in 2014 officially acquitted. His parents received a compensation from the state.
