Under the smoke of Utrecht, on the A27, is Wooden, a town with a core in which you as a driver do not have. Result: almost no fatalities. Is this the way to major accidents eliminate?
Certain parts of your city for automobile traffic in Europe may not be entirely unique, for an average American, this must be a strange sight. Journalist Charles Montgomery has observed, the Houtense situation and moved to it in his book, titled: “Happy City: Transforming Our Lives Through Urban Design.”
This comes under more and more evident that Wood, that a ‘ring road’ has waarbinnnen the car is taboo, between 2001-2005, only one death had to be mourned, an elderly lady who by a garbage truck was hit. Montgomery astonishes highly about the many very young fearless children who are already on their bikes to school and fail.
This may be because the offspring do not have to fear getting hit by traffic by unwary motorists, but whether this is a good preparation for what is to come is the question. A mouse who grows up without natural enemies was not coined at a from the air down, depositing bird, and so it might be useful if children the dangers to learn about them.
Anyway, Wood is The Safest Suburb In The World according to the Americans, but it is of course not always possible, the traffic flows so radically separate. Should anyway but everyone helmpjes and a beschermpak? And all cars equipped with airbags in the hood?
The case Wood is covered in detail in the following series of VPRO’s Tegenlicht.
