Is a small diesel to min for a premium flagship? BMW doesn’t think so.
A modern diesel-four cylinder engine has sufficient power and torque on a sedan from top of movement to get and keep, but still try at almost no manufacturer does. BMW will according to the rumors in the corridors next year the ban will be broken, and a ongeassisteerde four-cylinder zelfontbrander in the new 7 Series push.
This, they are not the first: Mercedes already did with the (W221) S250 CDI, but since the advent of the W222, these four cylinder engine the help of an electric motor (in the S300 h and BLUETEC Hybrid). At Audi, Maserati and Jaguar, they do not viercilinderdiesels in this segment, there is the V6 or GTFO.
Big question is now what BMW is planning: is it a 725d (231 hp) or the 720d (190 hp), the gap to the existing 730d (265 hp) not too small to be let. Or they just do both: the more choice, the more joy, isn’t it?
For comparison and support of the previous claim: a E65 730d produced 218 hp and 500 Nm, values that you can already buds with two cylinders less.
