A new lease car to find out was always fun, until the tax, the quantity came to mess things up. Fortunately, not everyone is there by lead, such as Tim, who is looking for a smooth diesel.

Currently riding Tim in a Volkswagen Golf VI 2.0 TDI with 170 hp and 380 Nm, with thanks to the chipkunstenaars of ABT. The Gulf is almost at the end of his contract and so should Tim look for another leasert. Requirements of the boss: diesel, including brandstofvoorschot and winter tires, A – or B-label, and up to 15 percent of the lease amount of options. Requirements of Tim: not too much to compromise on torque and power.

You can have different sides, you have, after all, German and German. On the one hand, there are the premium brands, but considering the 15% rule should you not phrases have taken on a with options overloaded car. On the other hand, except for Ford, of course, also Volkswagen and Opel, and with a bit of creativity is Skoda also quite German. You can also see in the C – and D-segment that also competitors from other countries their arrows on the German brands focus and self pretty ‘verduitsen’. Also outside Of the Home can look so interesting options produce. Fortunately, Tim has also been homework done:

Volvo V40 D4 (190 hp)
“Personally, I think the dashboard is ugly, that analog numeric buttons in 2015. Not very well, and find the engine a tame and noisy. In compare with my VAG diesel.”

Volvo S60 D4 (181 hp)
“The same problem with the dashboard, irritate me these days as I have with colleagues in the car. Maybe Volvo just not my brand…”

Audi A3 SB/Limo 1.6 TDI Pro Line S (105 hp)
“Nice tank, but engine is a little slow.”

Audi A3 SB/Limousine 2.0 TDI Pro Line S (184 hp)
“Beautiful bowl, with this engine I would want. But it has a C-label, would be possibly an exception can be questions on work for this, but it is a hassle.”

VW Golf GTD (184 hp)
“Fun bowl, Golf 7 design not quite my thing. It is very good. Unfortunately, the Golf is a C-label.”

Jaguar XE R-Sport (163/180 hp)
“Of the week test drive in had, was a pre-production car. Felt still not, happens under the 2000rpm almost nothing. It is very good on the road. If you go in the option list of this car is very expensive in the private tax. Mn 2.0 TDI from VAG drags there much harder, and is much smoother.”

Mazda 6 SkyActiv D 2.2 (150 hp)
“Very nice enclosure, still no test drive. Am curious to see if the block is still a little bright.”

BMW 116d (116 hp)
“Design for me is not very much, maybe once a testritje do in the fun diesels. Find the diesels will be very expensive, especially with some nice options.”

Green grass, yellow labels

The energy labels for cars are thick nonsense – print this out and take it to your fleet manager. Briefly stated, the “measure” them how economical a car is in relation to the length and width. A BMW 120d as a result has a worse energy rating than a 520d, while we all know that a smaller and lighter(!) car more economical.

What is the choice for Tim harder is the fact that his previous car chip tuning. Often then the reaction on the gas pedal adjusted, feels faster, but it is not. It is actually the “throttle body” just faster turned. Anyway, feel VAG blocks brighter, but it is not always the case that they actually are faster.

The grass is always greener on the other side, as it turns out, but once again. Especially the Golf GTD and the Audi A3 Sedan, both with 184 hp, fall in the taste. Plead with your boss can always, of course, but about Golf, you don’t even have to start. That is not a C but a D-label.

Going premium

Audi and BMW passed already discussed, both the BMW 116d as the Audi A3 Sedan with their, respectively, 116 and 105 horses not immediately ‘smooth diesels’. At competitor Mercedes you can still go for the CLA 180 CDI, but comes no further than 109 hp. But wait! Thanks to the slightly larger body, the CLA Shooting Brake 200 CDI (136 hp) also a B-tag, while the regular CLA with the engine of a C-label. Great advantage is also that the Shooting Brake is something less remarkable designed than the regular CLA, but that is, of course, smaakgevoelig. We still look around for a minute, then we see that a BMW 418d and 420d Coupe also both a B-label. Unfortunately, this requires the 4 Series Coupe is a large investment and is only in a free bare-bones implementation to drive for Tim’s budget.

From Sweden, via Japan to the uk

Volvo is anything but German, but a European brand at the premium segment aanschurkt. As for the V40 D4 is important to any model year that was. The 2014 version with 14% addition is equipped with longer gears and is limited to 190 km/h. The 2015 version has a slightly different gearbox and has a top speed of 230 km/h. Or your feeling a big difference, we dare not, of course, to say. On the other hand, you are not a fan of the dashboard of the V40 and S60, so you may have to Sweden, just to the left of us.

Japan would, however, not a direct skip. Tim gives the Mazda 6 a successful car and there we can join. 150 hp is not a shocking value, the torque is 380 Nm equal to that of his current leasebak. In terms of performance let the Mazda than the Opel Insignia with 170 hp and 400 Nm (B-label) is largely behind him. If Skylease GT, the Mazda also standard is already furnished, so you do not fast in the trouble is with the 15% rule. At the coffee machine, you can even brag about your environmentally friendly choice, the 6 has an a-label. Proefrijden so.

Our Wouter found the Jaguar XE 163 or 180 hp, diesel “raft was“, but our reader is, therefore, not totally agree. With a few options is the XE soon be quite pricey and the question is whether you from the Jag or the most fun going to the motor, if you already don’t like. Our advice: look further to either more luxury or a car that you motor some more fun.

Conclusion

Ergo: a lot of D-segmenters and little C-segmenters because of the way the energy labels will be assigned (consumption in proportion to wagenlengte). You go for premium, then you need to have less power and fewer options. Our advice: go for a drive with the Mazda 6 and the CLA 200 CDI. Or go yet, but the battle over the with a class C splendidly dressed A3 Limousine 2.0 TDI, because that seems to be the car that you actually want to have.
