Of all the Chinese car brands that every now and then inspiration from western brands will Zotye Automobile by far the most shamelessly to work. Copyright is simply interpreted as right to copy. A Smart clone, a Tesla clone, an Audi Q5-clone, and more recently a Porsche Macan-clone, Zotye (not to be confused with singer-songwriter Gotye) has them all in the most inspiratieloze range in the world. And gets away with it also.

Porsche, however, intends to take legal action against Zotye. The brand wants to avoid the Chinese SUV imitation of their Macan next year on the market. Fully justified of course, but it may be a hoofdpijndossier. In the past, western brands not exactly been successful in their legal battle against the Chinese locals. Jaguar Land Rover has ever tried to prevent Landwind’s X7 Evoque-imitation in China on the market would bring. Without a result.
