Mercedes: 'nee, we hebben geen interesse in Aston Martin'
Mercedes’ highest boss puts an end to the rumors..

Because Aston Martin for some years as a small brand needs to survive in a market where large companies have more and more market share to grab, it is obvious that the British company sooner or later word bought. Mercedes was much used as a droomkandidaat called, since AMG just a motorendeal with the British have concluded and Mercedes its share in Aston Martin from 4 to 5 percent enriched.

Within the top of the Mercedes is for an acquisition of spirit enough, so are the rumors. Yet Dieter Zetsche, the tapgrage CEO of the German brand, at the Paris motor show to British press have let us know that a take-over there was not in it. Zetsche believes that “not Aston Martins would be beneficial to include a large group to attack.” In addition, it would be a too big distraction for Mercedes:

“Aston is only 4000 units a year so there is also a danger we would be distracted from our core business. The deal [5 percent share, -ed] is a perfect fit for both brands as it allows Aston to remain independent but also benefit from outside technology. There are no plans to increase our stake or take over.

In short, Mercedes keep the boat. For now at least, because we know that such statements of automotive CEO’s typically an expiration date.
