Gruezi liebe Leser! You drive this summer through Switzerland? Note here for a moment.

A trip through Switzerland is worth it, even if it is only by motorway. Take a bit of time up your environment to make it work, because hardrijders by the many cameras discouraged.

Vignette
First you need stickers to paste. On the Swiss motorway is a toll road in the form of a vignette, 40 CHF (39 euros, valid for 1 year) costs. Vignettes for a short time, there are not.

Excessive asphalt is not in Switzerland. The Alpine country has, in addition to a strong natuurlobby also has an excellent functioning and extensive public TRANSPORT system. In terms of punctuality, the Swiss railways worldwide, only the Japanese for; and, therefore, is a frequently heard argument that crusted roads but better public TRANSPORT can take more asphalt to lay. But well, there buy the autorijdende tourist little.

Tunnels
Since Switzerland is an Alpine country, you can not to the mountains. It does not need to, because you can look as good as always dóórheen. Swiss are hard tunnelgravers. Unfortunately, this also means that the traffic at busy times is usually blocked. The gotthard tunnel – the main road to Italy – is notorious for its long waiting times in the peak hours of the summer holidays, and also San Bernardino in the Grisons (South-Eastern CH) wants to sometimes hide.

But Switzerland has more bottlenecks: the Ring road around Zurich, but also all the major border crossings, such as the A2 motorway at Weil am Rhein – Basel. Because even though Switzerland is a schengen country, it does not belong to the EU, and so it is checked.

Another busy (knot) points:

– A1/3/6/ at Bern (with a very long piece of Vmax of 80 km/h)
– A1/A9 to Lausanne
– A13 motorway, between Bellinzona and Locarno
– Anywhere where highways come together, Härkingen (A1/A2) is another notorious point.

An additional disadvantage of the not-too-high Swiss snelwegdichtheid is that if it is on one highway good stuck, this is very easy to extend to other roads. For the leisure traveller, with time, there are fortunately still the beautiful mountain passes, which in the summer are generally open.

Tunnelflitsers
A small note: in tunnels, the VMax usually 100 km/h, and also hang in there regular flashes (as in the Gotthard where you have 80 mag). Gotthard-fines anyway, and the fines are in the stinkdure Switzerland is not tender. Overtaking on the right, or that kind of jokes I would have been completely out of my head.
