Is it a coincidence that the last time, most Alfa dealers were killed?
The economic crisis of the past few years will find the business heavy. Dutch consumers appear to be their car choice more rational to make, and that is certainly for a in heavy weather condition emotion-brand like Alfa Romeo is not good news. The ever so beautiful and successful brand has hit hard to catch. Where in the Netherlands in 1999 still 9.650 cars sold, there were ten years later, only 1.650 pieces. And in 2013 remained at the counter, hang on 1.822 Dutch copies. Not just nationally, and around the world walk the sales figures strong back. Still no 65.000 sold cars the Italians last year, about a third of what the top year 2001 as the band rolled in.
It will also have to do with the mismanagement of the Italian management and the range of models on z’n put it mildly, quite summarily. Currently there is only the choice of the Mito, Giuletta and the 4C. That last one is just like the 8C a sublime product but will have no sales records to break. What remains are two fun compact cars. Fun, but not good enough to be successful. Alfa promises quick improvement, but that the salvation is?
Unfortunately are especially dealers victim. If we look at the faillisementen in Dutch autohandeltje than we see above-average amounts of Alpha-dealers on the list. A list:
2008 | AutoCasa Italia – the Fiat and Alfa dealer from Doetinchem went bankrupt after the Italians, the contract opzegden.
2009 | Kroymans – The bankruptcy of Kroymans found both the Alfa dealer in Amsterdam as in Rotterdam.
2009 | Sam van Lingen – The Dutch channel was even smaller when Sam van Lingen bankruptcy ordered for the Alfa-branches in Aalsmeer, Amersfoort, Amsterdam, Haarlem and Utrecht.
2009 | Skins’s Company – In the same year, the poor market conditions also Alfa dealer Hides too much, it shut its doors in Gouda.
2012 | Maas – The black clouds moved to Voorburg, where at the beginning of 2012 on dealer Maasland bankruptcy was declared.
2013 | Leo Martens – That the sale of Alfa’s and Subaru’s today, no more bread to earn, became painfully clear when, at the end of 2013 Leo Martens from Tegelen was declared bankrupt.
2014 | Purchase Furness – Last week it was on and off for dealerholding Sale Furness. Fivan Alfa Romeo in Maassluis and Capelle a/d IJssel, the netherlands were affected. Allows the company is still a start.
Of course, there are also lots of other brand dealers affected, Alfa seems to be the above average heavy. The brand hangs by a thread but still have big plans with a new modellenoffensief. At the beginning of last year, we were all wondering who would still be sitting waiting on Alfa Romeo. We fear that the answer is limited to the lord of Volkswagen AG and a small handful of lovers, including us.
