The Seat Ibiza Mk4 was designed by the Belgian Luc Donckerwolke and presented in 2008 at the motor show of Geneva in the form of the Bocanegra concept. The ultimate Ibiza was a little less exciting shape.
Available as 3-door and 5-door hatchback, but since 2010, also as a 5-door “ST” or as a drive. Best versions are the FR (150 hp) and 180 hp strong Bocanegra and Cupra. In 2012, the Ibiza is getting a facelift.

Pros
- Nice driving hatchback.
- Looks like fun.
- Value for money, a Ibiza is relatively cheap.
Issues
- The power steering sometimes makes strange noises at low speeds at full wieluitslag.
- Especially in the driedeurs Ibiza sure poorly placed deurrubbers sometimes for unnecessary noise. However, this can also occur in the other versions.
- The power windows would sometimes malfunction. Inadvertent opening or closing, therefore, sometimes burning the engines all the way through. Check the windows, so as extended as possible.
- A lot of Ibiza’s are equipped with the 1.2 and 1.4 TSI of the Volkswagen Group. The well-known problems: they eat a mouthful of oil and the distribution will be problems. Check the tensioning and timing chain has no play, or the engine runs smoothly without hiccups, and regularly check your oil level. Do that especially with the FR, Cupra and Bocanegra versions!
- Less economical than promised by Seat.
- The drainage of the doors and tailgate becomes easily clogged with as a result that your interior when you open still wet.
- The springs on the front break sometimes. Annoying, but not a very expensive repair.
