Winter comes to Russia

For the first time this winter season, have cold and snow the public life of the West Russian cities paralyzed. Moscow put thousands of municipal staff in to the roads in and around the capital to get rid of a thick layer of snow.

Sat morning went to no fewer than 15,000 vehicles from the city streets to the snow to clean up. In the huge metropolis was the traffic jam. At the three international airports of Moscow were dozens of flights cancelled. Also in St. Petersburg came the public life largely to a standstill.

The meteorologists in Russia are predicting even more snow and frost. A bit further from Moscow, it is already cold. The Public Ministry investigates how it is possible that a driver in a car at Orenburg, 1300 km southeast of the capital, shortly after the turn of the year in a file could freeze to death. Despite fierce urging motorists came to the hulpwerkers only after sixteen hours in action. The traffic was jammed while the temperature was dropped to 16 degrees below zero.
