American university builds test track of autonomous cars

Before autonomous cars come to market, we must of course expect that they are safe. Testing is the answer, only where do you do that? An American university is going to be a test track set up, especially for the autonomous car.

Of course, there are already plenty of circuits and test Google and Audi even been on the public road, but a great test track made for the development of this kind of cars is new. The university of Michigan (USA), now has the green light for the construction of such a job.

Near the university is a so-called Mobilty Transformation Facility dropped. A 12 acre site which, as well as all traffic is re-enacted. The site gets on – and offroad roads including roundabouts, traffic lights, invoegstroken, four-lane highways and other verkeersobstakels.

The university has together with the government’s goal for 2021 transportation in Southeast Michigan is fully autonomous, with the test track want to the setting to speed up development. In the autumn of this year starts with the construction of the track, which more than 6.5 million dollars is going to cost.
