Right now, millions of people around the world are trying to understand what nuclear warming is. We first heard this phrase in 2024 from US presidential candidate Donald Trump. According to him, today humanity needs to fear not global warming, but the “nuclear” one he mentioned. He believes that this phenomenon will lead to catastrophic consequences much faster than the gradual increase in air temperature on Earth. Since this expression has raised questions among a huge number of people, we need to figure out what it is. This is what we will do now – take a few minutes to read, and you will find out everything.

The Deadliest Disaster on Earth
There is no official term for “nuclear warming.” It is simply an expression used by Donald Trump to describe the potential threat of nuclear war.
In his opinion, tensions between countries that have large stockpiles of nuclear weapons can lead to catastrophic consequences. So, in short, nuclear warming is an escalation of conflict between powerful states that can end in a nuclear catastrophe.

The most powerful countries in the world
My colleague Andrey Zhukov spoke about the most powerful countries in the world in the article “What is a nuclear triad, why is it needed and which countries have it?”
For many years, only Russia and the United States had a nuclear triad. In 2016, China and India became advanced countries in terms of weapons. When they say that a state has a nuclear triad, this means that it can deliver nuclear warheads in all three possible ways. We are talking about the presence of land, air and sea equipment.
Other countries also have nuclear weapons. But they are weaker than the states mentioned above, because they have only one or two components of the triad.

Consequences of a nuclear war
Nuclear warming can really lead to a serious catastrophe that will wipe out if not all of humanity, then at least half of it.
In the event of a nuclear war, many people will die immediately. And the survivors will have to escape from the nuclear winter caused by the explosions, as well as find food and cope with many other problems.
In 2022, scientists announced that even a small nuclear war could lead to mass starvation on Earth. Considering that any powerful explosion would send millions of tons of soot into the air, sunlight would stop falling on the Earth's surface. Not only people, but also plants would suffer from the resulting cold. Even those people who do not consider themselves vegetarians eat a large amount of plant-based food: bread, pasta, and so on. So the consequences of an escalation of the conflict could really quickly cause a mass food shortage.
The scientific journal Nature Food has the results of a study that showed that in the event of a nuclear war, the average amount of calories consumed in the world would be reduced by 90%. According to the results of computer modeling, this would lead to the death of about 5 billion people.
Right now you can find out whether the world after a nuclear war will be like the one shown in the TV series “Fallout”.
The effects of global warming
If we compare the danger of a nuclear war and global warming, the first option is, of course, more dangerous than the second. The first threat can turn the Earth into a hellish place in a matter of minutes. But global warming will affect our daily lives for decades.
The consequences of the Earth's climate becoming warmer due to the greenhouse effect are already noticeable. Global warming makes itself known by the fact that every summer the weather breaks temperature records. Because of the heat, people find it harder to concentrate on work, we sleep poorly at night, the heat has a negative effect on equipment and even on crop yields.
In the future, if warming is not affected in any way, the situation will gradually worsen. In the long term, rising air temperatures may revive ancient viruses, which will certainly become one of the reasons for the decline in the Earth's population. Also, due to global warming, many species of animals may become extinct.

The risk of nuclear war, of course, always exists. But it is important to understand that politicians know what they are dealing with and are unlikely to allow a catastrophe. Global warming is also not a fairy tale, but humanity has at least four ways to stop it.
