Scientists have developed a chip for telecommunications and artificial intelligence

It is universal. A team from the Photonics Laboratory (PRL)-iTEAM of the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the company iPRONICS have created a chip for telecommunications, data centers and infrastructure related to artificial intelligence systems. This chip is the first universal, programmable and multifunctional photonic chip in the world. DiscussScientists have developed a chip for telecommunications and artificial intelligence

The developed chip is designed for applications in 5G communications, data centers, quantum computing, artificial intelligence, satellites, drones and autonomous driving, among many other applications.

It allows wireless and photonic segments of communication networks to be programmed and connected on demand, avoiding creating bottlenecks that can limit throughput and available bandwidth.

The chip is already integrated into iPRONICS' product, Smartlight, and was used by VodaFon in testing.

According to a professor at the Polytechnic University Valencia, applications such as 5G or autonomous cars require higher frequencies, making it necessary to reduce the size of antennas and associated circuitry.
