This 1938 issue has more than just monetary value, it also has enormous cultural significance. Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Action Comics #1 marks the first-ever appearance of Superman. It introduced the world to the iconic story of Kal-El, an alien sent to Earth who grows up to become a champion of justice. In addition to Superman, the comic also debuted Lois Lane and Zatara, setting the stage for decades of superhero stories.

Heritage Auctions describes this example as the most “breathtakingly beautiful” they have ever offered. Considering the comic's age (86 years), intact copies are incredibly rare. The identity of the happy (and very rich) buyer has not yet been disclosed.
