SKIFMinister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov told reporters that the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN) will soon approve a large international scientific program for the Siberian synchrotron SKIF. According to Falkov, the creation of the program was initiated by the Institute of Catalysis of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and has already been carried out discussion. It is expected that in the very near future the program will be reviewed and approved by the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The SKIF synchrotron, which is being built as part of the national project “Science and Universities,” will be a source of new generation synchrotron radiation and will allow the study of matter at the atomic level . Completion of construction is scheduled for December 2024.
Falkov also emphasized the importance of the synchrotron for the development of scientific institutes of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Novosibirsk State University, as well as for training personnel in the field of fundamental and applied science.
