Scientists recruited 90 people aged 19 to 40 to test these sayings, dividing them into three groups. The first group drank beer first, then wine, the second – vice versa. And the third (control) drank only beer or only wine. After each drink of alcohol, a survey was conducted about how people felt.
The results showed that the order of drinking alcoholic beverages did not have a significant effect on the severity of the hangover. A more important factor is how the body processes alcohol.
Experts also note that the amount of alcohol consumed and the rate at which alcohol is consumed have a greater impact on the severity of a hangover. Another possible factor is a lack of water in the body and drinking alcohol on an empty stomach.
