Apple Pay has reportedly already restricted the ability to pay for purchases using contactless payments. At first, there were failures in the operation of the Russian segment of this service, and now nothing can be paid using Apple Pay in Russia. At the same time, Google Pay and Samsung Pay are malfunctioning, but still working.
But even in this situation, Russians have an alternative: domestic payment systems Mir Pay and SberPay. As noted, the most reliable way is to open a Mir system card in any Russian bank that works with Google Pay and Apple Pay, and it will be possible to pay using NFC. At the same time, the Central Bank of Russia recommends carrying plastic cards, regardless of whether the bank is under sanctions or not. For purchases over 1,000 rubles, you will need to enter a pin code.
It is also reported that owners of Android devices have the opportunity to install the Mir Pay application and use it for contactless payment. Sber customers can use the SberPay system for this type of payment, but this tool does not always recognize Visa and Mastercard cards and is not available on iPhones.
