And quite successfully, the Apple Watch continues to gain popularity in a wide variety of corporate environments. The goal is to improve communication and simplify the repair process for customers. Volvo explained to ComputerWorld that she supplied the service technicians with an Apple Watch as well as an iPhone running the Volvo service app. Volvo envisions that they will use the Apple Watch in the garage in four main ways: When using the watch, the engineer will be notified when the customer arrives at the garage with their car. The watch will display the customer's name, related notes, and vehicle details. During the repair, engineers can access information, and after the repair is completed, they can directly call the customer and inform him about it.
Volvo believes that the introduction of Apple Watch and iPhone will reduce dependence on printed records and computer equipment. Both are time consuming and require training. Volvo told ComputerWorld that it used to take up to six months to train new hires on the “15 different IT systems” the company used previously.
The company says 80% technicians using the new equipment improved their performance. In addition, there was a 30% increase in “follow-up calls and emails to customers after service” and a 40% reduction in paper printouts.
