It remains to be hoped that the manufacturer has fixed at least something Xiaomi smartphones have been criticized more than once for problems with the correct operation of proximity sensors. Redmi Note 11, the latest mid-range model, uses Elliptic Labs' problematic sensor. The same sensor is used in Xiaomi Mi 11. Apparently, the latest Redmi K50 Gaming has not got rid of the flaw either.Discuss
Redmi K50 received an Elliptic Labs sensor called Inner Beauty. Journalists suggested that Xiaomi signed a major contract with the company to supply proximity sensors for its smartphones. Therefore, the Redmi K50 will most likely not be the last.
Sensors disable the smartphone's display and touch screen functionality when users hold the device close to their ear during a phone call. Screen auto-off also helps extend battery life.
Elliptic Labs claims the sensor will work reliably, but is not sure yet.
