Life told about it. It turns out that there is a reason for the rare use of the F-22 Raptor fighter by the US armed forces. About it – in the material.Discuss
The F-22 Raptor is now formally in service with the United States Air Force. However, out of 195 aircraft produced, less than 40 units are ready for use. This came to light in 2020 after a wash during routine maintenance was found to be the cause of the F-22 crash. Then maintenance errors were made in 2021, causing the F-22 Raptor to catch fire. These errors were already associated with the peculiarities of the launch of the fighter: the technicians simply shifted the output valve of the auxiliary power unit.
“exhaust pipe” that removes hot gases and is used as a heat shield. It is believed that this solution was borrowed by the Americans from the F-15 model, and it was created on the model of the Soviet MiG-25 and MiG-31. F-22 consisted in the fact that APU was firmly fixed and could not “breathe” after the start of work. In USSR aircraft, this part was on a movable mount.
According to experts from the United States, this shortcoming was one of the reasons why the F-22 Raptor is not sold for export.
