So far without a solution, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are the first Google phones to feature an under-display fingerprint sensor, and to help with repairs, Google has released a tool to calibrate the sensor. However, as it turned out, it has some problems.Discuss
Louis Rossmann, owner of the Rossmann Repair Group store in New York, posted a YouTube video addressing this issue with Google's fingerprint sensor tool. In the video, Rossmann cites several threads on the Google, Reddit, iFixit, and XDA forums about crashes in the Google calibration tool. “could not find unique software to calibrate this device” when trying to calibrate the display and fingerprint sensor of a Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro. This issue is reported to be unresolved and affects both self-repair and specialized locations.
In one thread, a user claiming to be a Google Certified Technician claims, that there are indeed problems connecting fingerprint calibration when using Windows, and he was able to run this tool on Pixel 5 and Chromebook.
This problem was first reported in November, but there have been no updates since then.
