This feature fixes a longstanding issue that was affecting chat messages between iPhone and Android users to display correctly. When an iPhone user reacts to an Android emoji message, the Android smartphone video owner reacts as a message sent separately, resulting in confusion. emoji on both operating systems. So far, however, there are inconsistencies in exactly how emoji look. But it's still a big step forward.
The new Show iPhone reactions as emoji feature is enabled by default in the beta version of the Google Messages app in the More menu under Settings.
