Six hundredth, but not Mercedes: testing headphones with noise reduction from the famous TV manufacturer

TCL Moveaudio S600 The rule of good form for modern smartphone manufacturers is to produce other accessories under their own brand, in particular, headphones. We reviewed the TCL smartphone back in the summer, let's now see what their headphones are capable of. Appearance

Where the TCL designers got their inspiration, you can see right away. The appearance of the TCL Moveaudio S600 (both the headphones themselves and the charging case) is easily recognizable as Apple and Huawei products.

Why Huawei? Yes, because here, too, the case opens as if from the inside out. See that shiny stripe with the manufacturer's logo on it? So, the case opens from the other side, like Huawei.

Huawei is also hinted at by the ill-conceivedness of attaching the headphones to the case. Removing them can be quite problematic – the headphones slip out of your fingers. But subjectively, it's still much easier than Huawei Freebuds Pro, for example.

But TCL Moveaudio S600 fits perfectly in the ears – unlike the same Huawei Freebuds Pro. Even the legs do not interfere at all.

Headphones are controlled through the touch zones located at the top of the legs. Only press and hold is supported, so you won't get too crazy here.

Finally, it is worth noting that the headphones are protected from dust and water by standard IP54.

Functions

In general, TCL Moveaudio S600 has the most basic functionality. There is Google Fast Pair – that is, an Android smartphone lying nearby will offer to connect headphones if you open the charging case somewhere nearby.

Headphones are controlled through the proprietary TCL Connect application, where you can also wearable devices of the company.

There is no equalizer in the application, check the fit of the headphones in the ears too. You can only update the firmware, select a control scheme (what will happen when you click on the touch zones of the headphones), well, there is a charge display.

Sound and noise reduction

Considering the poor functionality and low price (7-8 thousand rubles), I did not expect anything especially from the sound and noise reduction of the TCL Moveaudio S600. Perhaps that is why they pleasantly surprised me. Unfortunately, now I do not have Huawei Freebuds Pro at hand, but from my recollections, everything is about the same here, including noise reduction. In terms of sound, you can only complain about excessive compression, but this is more of a nitpick and the impression depends more on what kind of music you listen to. Most of today's music is heavily compressed to create the feeling of a loud sound, so the Moveaudio S600 will not spoil such music.

Plus, there is quite deep and at the same time soft, not bulging bass , which creates the feeling of a subfouver (precisely in the region of the lowest frequencies). But if you want to direct “boom” – it is possible to do it with third-party equalizers. Most importantly, the headphones don't cut off the bottom end.

The middle is a little” failed “, but it is easy to draw it out with the same equalizer in the player.

TCL Moveaudio S600 support SBC and AAC codecs, like most competitors in their class. In the same songs with the AAC codec, the readability of high frequencies is better (for example, beats on the hi-hat).

The noise reduction is also good for such a price – the headphones are decently muffling the low and mids. The voice of the person standing next to you can be heard, but it will be very muffled.

Also, when making a call, the headphones perfectly muffle external noise from the microphone. If you are vacuuming or standing under the hood (while cooking), your interlocutor will not hear all these noises. At the same time, your voice will be heard clearly.

Autonomy

With the included noise reduction, the headphones themselves are able to work for 6 hours, which is more than that of Huawei Freebuds Pro, Apple Air Pods Pro, Jabra Elite 85t and Samsung Galaxy Buds 2. In general, in this parameter TCL Moveaudio S600 are on par with JBL Live Pro + , which, by the way, are now about the same. Up to three more times the earbuds can be recharged in the charging case, and 10 minutes of charging will give 1 hour of operation.

In general, the manufacturer himself promises up to 32 hours of total work (including recharging in the case), but this, apparently, in some ideal conditions and without noise reduction.

But, interestingly, the headphones (more precisely, the case) support wireless charging! I did not expect this from inexpensive Chinese (Huawei has it, but they are also more expensive).

The main difference between Huawei headphones is the ability to connect two devices at the same time. No, not for the simultaneous playback of sound (this is nowhere to be found), but for quickly switching between devices. In this case, TCL headphones will have to be put into pairing mode every time. Freebuds Pro also has better noise reduction, but they are also more expensive (11-12 thousand rubles). Plus, you have to tinker with installing the application – the current version is no longer on Google Play.

JBL Live Pro +

JBL Live Pro +

For the same money as TCL Moveaudio S600 (specifically: 8-9 thousand rubles), you can purchase JBL Live Pro + headphones. In terms of sound and noise reduction, they will be about the same (perhaps TCL's noise reduction is even slightly better, like voice transmission), but there are much more functions: in particular, there is a flexible equalizer in the application. Although, this is not such an important feature, given that any decent music player has its own equalizer.

Total

For their price – 8 thousand rubles – TCL Moveaudio S600 headphones have a very decent sound and very good noise reduction, as well as excellent voice transmission, at the level of Samsung and Jabra products. At the same time, their autonomy is higher.

I would not call the TCL Moveaudio S600 an ideal choice – for about the same price, you can also consider JBL Live Pro +, which has more functions and more convenient control, but this is already a matter of personal choice …

In any case, if the same TCL smartphones are still sold at a clearly inflated price, then the company is fine with the headphones.
