The big Bang could produce not just our Universe. Our universe may be the mirror reflection of “antimatter” where time flows backwards, and the space is mirrored. This statement was made by canadian physicists from the Perimeter Institute for theoretical physics, who proposed the new cosmological model, which assumes the existence of antimatter associated with our Universe that generally supports the fundamental rule of CPT-symmetry.
Standard cosmological models tell us that the universe is composed of space, time and mass/energy about 14 billion years ago, since then it has expanded and cooled down, which led to the formation of subatomic particles, atoms, stars and planets.
However, Neil Turok of the Perimeter Institute for theoretical physics (Ontario, Canada) believes that the relationship of all these models for specific parameters does not allow to use them as Canon. One of these, in his opinion, is a short period of expansion of the Universe, known as inflation. About her little is known. Therefore, together with his colleague Latham Boyle Turks decided to develop a model of the Universe that could explain all observed phenomena based only on known particles and fields. Scientists set out to determine whether the universe beyond the Big Bang. The simulation results showed that it is possible.
The answer was to assume that the universe as a whole obeys the rule of the CPT-symmetry. This fundamental principle demands that any physical process has remained unchanged, if time and space are inverted, and particles replaced by antiparticles. Turk argues that this does not apply to our Universe, where time moves forward with the expansion of space, and the substances much more than antimatter.
In a CPT-symmetric Universe time is running backwards from the Big Bang, and antimatter predominates over substance
In a study published in the journal Physical Review Letters (a press release published on the website of Physics World), the scientists proposed a model of symmetry, consisting of a pair of “universe-antimatter”. According to this model, time, antimatter extends backward from the events of the Big Bang, it also expands, but in the past, not the future, and instead of the usual matter dominated antimatter.
The researchers acknowledge that their model needs significant improvement. At the same time, it differs from other models, in particular inflation, since the ability to answer some questions without additional quantum fields.
