The first notable case lock was made in respect of publications recognized by the Tushinskiy district court of Moscow “discrediting the honor, dignity and business reputation” of the owner of the BTA Bank Kenes Rakishev.
The Tushino district court of Moscow in October 2018 partially satisfied the claim of Kenges Rakishev to 40 Internet sites, including Facebook, Instagram, Compromising.ru and LiveInternet. The court found published on these sites information about the Kazakhstan businessman discrediting the honor, dignity and business reputation. Rakishev was originally required to remove the information, to recognize it is prohibited to spread in Russia, and also to recognize the activities of the sites of the defendants illegal. Court asked to block individual pages found a violation of the rights to protection of personal data, but the remaining plaintiff’s claims are not satisfied.
The relevant law came into force in April 2018. According to lawyers, the number of such cases and the locks will grow.
