A Tesla can be stolen in just a few seconds

A group of researchers from the Catholic University of Leuven have found a way to steal in a few seconds, the Tesla Model S without the need to have the original key. This told the newspaper the Wired.

This will need to clone the key. The original key unlocks the Central locking when you press on the Central part, sending the encrypted code to the car.

To realize this, the researchers were able with the help of equipment worth $ 600, available in the open market, including a couple of radio sensors and single-Board microcomputer Raspberry Pi, the hard drive and batteries.

In 2017, the researchers said Tesla about the found vulnerabilities and received a prize of 10 thousand dollars. The vulnerability remained unpatched until June 2018. According to a representative of Tesla, now the keys are fixed and use stronger encryption. The owners of cars bought before June of 2018, will receive a security update.
