There is a saying: if to treat the flu — it will be held for 7 days and if not treated for a week. Unfortunately, no matter how we tried, but, having picked up a virus, quick heal will not work. Though soon things can change, because a group of scientists from USA have developed a new drug, which not only quickly cope with the virus, but also doing it with virtually no side effects.
About the new development the newspaper writes EurekAlert, and, according to the report, the drug was named poloxamer-marbocyl. It is effective even against resistant forms of the flu virus. Moreover, the drug significantly reduces the duration of symptoms and faster known analogues removes the virus from the body.
In the U.S. and Japan have already completed the first phase of clinical trials of the drug. He was tested for uncomplicated influenza. The effect of poloxamer-marbocyl had a similar five-day course of oseltamivir, except that it was shown much faster. The average duration of flu symptoms was 23.4-28.2 hours (and in some cases up to 48 hours) is shorter than in people taking the drug during clinical trials. As stated by one of the lead authors of the study Frederick Hayden,
“New drug effective against influenza viruses A and B. it has the potential to affect a resistant form of the virus resistant to drugs. Moreover, patients taking balaclavas-karboksil, we have not reported significant side effects.”
Now scientists plan to complete a series of clinical trials and before the end of the year, we hope to get approval to release drugs in the FDA — management on sanitary inspection behind quality of foodstuff and medicines of the USA. If all goes well, new flu medicine will be available in 2018.
