The government has decided to hold large-scale introduction of the fifth generation networks in Russia. The launch of 5G networks in the cities scheduled for the end of 2021. It is stated in the documentation for the meeting of the Supervisory Board of ANO “the Digital economy”.
Approve the concept of creation and development of 5G networks is expected in the first quarter of 2019. By the end of 2020 implement test projects to launch 5G in five key areas in the territory of one of the cities. These terms are somewhat behind the planned previously.
Maxim Akimov, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, told reporters: “By the end of 2021, we would like to have a commercial operation, at least a significant number of base stations, which would provide stable operation of the network in major cities.”
