For printing have long been used not only for solid and powdered substances, but also liquid. Although using the latest still have problems: for example, the liquid must have a certain level of viscosity, or the nozzle of the printer just can not work normally. But recently, this problem was solved by creating a printing method using sound waves.
As reported by our colleagues from the publication in Science Advances, the development of responsible researchers from Harvard University and the ETH in Zurich. A new method based on the method of drip the print for quite a long time used in clinical Microbiology laboratories. Scientists claim that their method is much more promising than the current and electrodynamic jet printing. According to the authors of the invention,
“In our work we used special acoustic resonator with built-in nozzle of the printer. Thanks to the resonator, creating a standing acoustic wave acting on the ink drops. Changing the frequency of the sound wave, it is possible to change the droplet size to be printed. It turns out that we can use the fluid with any viscosity up to liquid metal.”
So thanks to new technology you can print even a liquid with extremely high viscosity that it is very difficult to make informed. Scientists themselves say that the new drip method of printing with the help of the resonator can be used in biological, food or cosmetic industry.
