NVIDIA introduced the Turing architecture for a new generation of graphics cards

NVIDIA introduced a new GPU architecture NVIDIA Turing. According to the manufacturers, the architecture of Turing became the biggest breakthrough since the invention of the GPU CUDA in 2006.

The architecture of the Turing equipped with special processors for ray tracing, called RT-nucleus. They speed up calculations of the motion of light and sound in a 3D environment GigaRays to 10 per second. As noted by NVIDIA, Turing accelerates ray tracing by up to 25 times compared to the previous generation, Pascal and GPU nodes to cope with the final rendering when applying effects in the movies 30 times faster than on GPU nodes.

The architecture of the Turing also has a tensor — core processors that accelerate the training of deep networks and inference, providing up to 500 trillion tensor operations per second.

Turing first got the new RT-kernel to speed up ray tracing and a new tensor kernel for inference, which allows ray tracing in real time.

NVIDIA also introduced its first products based on the architecture of Turing. They were the NVIDIA Quadro 8000 RTX, RTX Quadro 6000 and Quadro 5000 RTX intended for designers and artists in different fields of industry.

Video card Quadro on the basis of Turing will appear on the market in the fourth quarter of this year the price of 10 000, 6 300 and 2 300 US dollars, respectively.
