VKontakte promised complete privacy of personal pages

Social network Vkontakte will launch the full privacy of personal pages. This was announced by Andrey Rogozov, managing Director of Vkontakte in response to the recent cases of initiation of criminal cases for extremism in the posts, reposts, likes and and memes.

Rogozov said: “Statistics show that over time the situation with the criminal cases for publications in the Internet is deteriorating. Users of Vkontakte are increasingly becoming defendants in such cases. And we are extremely worried. Law enforcement agencies often do not take into account the context, do not distinguish the publication from the post and the image with a dubious joke equate to a really dangerous criminal offences”.

He said that Vkontakte is obliged to comply with Russian laws and to contribute to finding the real criminals, but the team is “firmly opposed to unjustified prosecutions for the publication on the Internet”.

Developers have already started to introduce additional measures to restrict access to content users. Last year, all albums stored photos were transferred to private mode by default, to avoid unpleasant accidents. Over the next two weeks will remove the display of the list of people apostasy record, keeping this feature only for their authors.

In addition, during the month, developers prepare to launch a brand new and “most important” reform of privacy over the last few years. In the social network will be able to make your profile completely private, leaving it open for friends only.
