EnergyTrend, a division of the analytical company TrendForce, spoke about the future rise in price of lithium-ion batteries in the third quarter of 2018, because of rising prices for raw materials.
Analysts pointed out that in the first quarter of 2018, the price of cobalt has set a new record. This metal is used lithium-ion batteries, as a result, the price also will increase by 5-15% in the third quarter of 2018.
The strongest rise in price will affect the Li-polymer batteries, their prices will grow by 10-15%, while the cost of prismatic and cylindrical batteries for 6-8% and 7-9%, respectively.
In addition, the impact on prices of declining shipments, as manufacturers release capacity for car batteries. It is interesting that the growing demand for electric cars and has provoked a rise in prices for cobalt.
