AMD has announced the launch of receiving pre-orders for the second generation of processors Ryzen Threadripper, including monstrous model with 32 cores.
The original debut of AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2 was held at the Computex 2018, which was held from 5 to 9 June in Taipei, including the first public demonstration of its flagship chip with 32 cores and 64 threads. Today they offer a pre-order, and retail sales will start on 13 August, but only two of them.
New AMD Ryzen Threadripper are based on the 12-nanometer architecture Zen+, while last year used a 14-nanometer Zen. They also use the socket TR4. Such processors are focused on demanding tasks such as rendering, post-production and final video editing, encoding and so on.
To order there are four models AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2:
- AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX: 32 cores, 64 threads, and 4.2/3 GHz processor, 64 MB of level 3 cache, TDP of 250 W, the price of 1799 dollars, start of sales on August 13
- AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX: 24 cores, 48 threads, the 4.2/3 GHz processor, 64 MB cache level 3, TDP 250 watts, price is 1299 dollars, start of sales October
- AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X: 16 cores, 32 threads, 4,4/3,5 GHz, 32 MB of level 3 cache, a TDP of 180 watts, price of $ 899, the start of sales on August 13
- AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2920X: 12 cores, 24 threads, 4,3/3,5 GHz, 32 MB of level 3 cache, a TDP of 180 W, the price of 649 dollars, start of sales October
