The CEO of Google Sundar Pichai (Sundar Pichai) responded to a fine of 4.3 billion euros, which was imposed on the company by the European Commission yesterday. He has published on the official Google blog lengthy open letter about the operating system Android.
It Pichai said that he never took money for using Android, and have spent billions on the development of the ecosystem, and the decision of the European Commission rejects a business model that supports Android.
The Commission requires Google to stop pre-installs the Chrome browser and search engine on Android. Pichai noted that Google does not force smartphone manufacturers to install Android or other company applications, but, conversely, allows you to use competing products.
Pichai also said that Android hasn’t cornered the market, and expanded it, creating more opportunities for all. He cited the statistics at the moment, Android is installed on thousands of 24 different devices, including smartphones, tablets, smart watches and TVs, from more than 1,300 manufacturers.
