In the third quarter of 2018, 66% of all sold smartphones in the world will be frameless, with an aspect ratio of 18:9 or similar aspect ratio. This was reported by the analytical company IHS Markit.
Now almost every smartphone manufacturer has introduced its frameless model, and often, and not just one. According to analysts, the introduction frameless design is even more accelerated in the second half of the year. For comparison, in the third quarter of 2017, the proportion of edge-to-edge smartphones accounted for only 10%.
Thus, after a couple of years to buy a smartphone with a now standard 16:9 screen might not be so easy. According to analysts, the transition to the new form factor will increase the demand for smartphones in 2019.
