A well-known hotel booking service Booking.com stopped working in the Crimea. While trying to find some options for travel to the Crimea, the service produces results “0 found”.
Also see the explanation of “sorry, currently our website is not possible to book accommodation in Crimea to rest.” However, the limitation is easily bypassed if you set the search option “I travel for work.” In addition, hotel owners complain of locking objects, the service ceased to collect feedback of tourists Crimean objects, and users have no possibility to write a review.
According to Kryminform, this limitation is not caused by the failure, and the administration of the service to support sanctions. Headquarters Booking.com located in Amsterdam and the service must comply with trade sanctions of the EU against the Crimea.
The service administration said: “According to the sanctions of the company Booking.com not allowed to offer any services directly related to tourism activities in Crimea. Although business travelers can continue to book accommodation in Crimea, any feedback they share, can be misconstrued by the authorities, as the fact that the company Booking.com offers travel services in the region.”
