India will punish operators for the artificial slowing down of the Internet

In India, the Ministry of communications and information technology approved the rules of network neutrality or net neutrality.

Last year the regulations were published as recommendations from the Indian regulator, the final adoption of the rules was the culmination of a multi-year campaign in favor of the principle of network neutrality.

New rules prohibit “any form of discrimination or interference” with information, including blocking, decrease priority, slowing, providing preferential rates or services to any content.

These rules are important services of “Internet of Things” or “specialized” services, including unmanned vehicles and remote surgery.

Recall that the principle of network neutrality implies that telecommunications operators when their services do not give preference to one types of content, applications or websites over others. Operators are forbidden to speed up or slow down traffic from certain web sites and applications, and block websites and slow down access to certain content.

The “open Internet” in United States was introduced in 2015 and canceled the vote, the Federal communications Commission (FCC) in December 2017. EU net neutrality also in 2015, enshrined in law. In Russia now are working on how to give operators the right to choose which traffic to transmit in priority order. It can be fixed in information and communication code, which is preparing to replace the current legislation in the field of communications and IT.
