In search results of Yandex appeared files user Google Docs (Google Documents). As it turned out, Yandex simply indexed the documents, which were available in public and was not protected by privacy settings.
The greatest danger for user made files they contain usernames and passwords in an unsecured form which was possible to get simply by entering in Yandex search “passwords” on Google Docs. Also available to the casual observer appeared to be many other “sensitive” data.
A few hours after the scandal erupted, Yandex removed from the search user documents Google Docs. The press service of Yandex, stated: “Yandex indexes only an open part of the Internet — those pages which are available when you click on the links without entering a username and password. Page, the indexing of which is prohibited by the site administrator in the file robots.txt Yandex does not index, even if they are in the open part of the Internet.” Security service Yandex contacted Google about solving problems.
