Wikipedia has stopped work in Europe

Several European versions of the Internet encyclopedia Wikipedia has suspended work in protest. Wikipedia in Italian, Spanish, Latvian and Polish up instead of start page and regular articles derive a statement against the new Directive on copyright the European Union.

The vote on the adoption of the Directive is to be held in the European Parliament on 5 July. As specified in the application, being approved, the Directive would adversely affect the openness of the Internet and poses a threat to online communication.

According to the authors Wikipedia, the Directive will limit the availability of the web, creating new barriers, filters and limitations. Users can encounter problems when trying to share news on social networks, or find them in search engines. Wikipedia consider themselves at risk.
