Russian scientists are developing a drug to put a person to sleep

As you know, many animals have the ability to hibernate. At this point all vital processes in their bodies slow down, and the food they receive from the domestic supply and consume significantly less oxygen. Man this feature has not, however, it would have been very useful for, say, long-term space travel. And our scientists at the moment, just develop a drug that can help.

The first experiments of the drug on laboratory animals have shown to be very effective. In laboratory animals slightly decreased body temperature, slowed the blood flow and heart rate, and also significantly reduced the consumption of organs and tissues of oxygen due to the pronounced deceleration of biochemical processes. The organisms were alive. After the release of “artificial hibernation” rodents recovered within 24 hours. But the most important thing is that when slowing down metabolism and reducing oxygen consumption is not affected the most sensitive to these processes of the nervous tissue.

As stated by scientists, sleep duration depends on the administered dose, but a longer “hibernation” will require lesser degree of control. After all, the animals that have this property by nature, there are special “depot” food for a long time. We are these depots are poorly developed. So, before you proceed with longer trials, it is required to solve at least this problem.
