Automakers have agreed to turn the smartphone into a digital key

The consortium of CCC (Car Connectivity Consortium) presented the first release of standard Digital Key that will allow you to download to your smartphone a virtual key for the car.

The consortium includes as well-known automakers and smartphone manufacturers, including Apple, Audi, BMW, General Motors, Hyundai, LG Electronics, Panasonic, Samsung and Volkswagen.
