The company Yandex has published on its YouTube channel a video with a new demonstration of their own self-driving taxi. The UAV made its first big trip — he drove from Moscow to Kazan.
Machine overcame 780 kilometers, most of the way ran along the Federal highway M7 “Volga”. In total the trip took about eleven hours. In the path of the UAV comply with applicable on-track speed limit. In the driver’s seat was test pilot Yandex. As emphasized by the developers, a trip to the 99% took place in automatic mode.
The objective of the trip was the test car on a country road in various road conditions. Along the way changed the quality of asphalt and striping. The track is narrowed, then widened. Changeable was the weather — from time to time the sun appeared, but a few times the car was caught in the rain. The car was moving in the daytime and at twilight.
We will remind, in the spring of 2017 Yandex for the first time showed its own self-driving taxi and told the details about the project. The first tests were conducted in a closed area of Moscow, near the main office of Yandex. They showed that the prototypes successfully cope with the task. These prototypes are created on the basis of the Toyota Prius in collaboration with the Institute US. In February 2018 were shown a prototype of an unmanned vehicle, which travelled to Moscow in the winter usloviyah.
