Russians don’t know what to do with the viruses on the computer.

Analytical center for NAFI (National Agency for financial studies) conducted a study on the digital literacy of Russians. As shown by national population surveys, every fourth Russian has a high level of digital literacy.

Under the digital literacy refers to a basic set of knowledge, skills and attitudes that enable a person to effectively solve problems in a digital environment. It includes information and computer literacy, knowledge about media content and its sources, skills of search of news and fact-checking, knowledge and communication skills using modern communication tools, knowledge about and skills in technology.

The Russians can best show itself in the field of media literacy, including the search for news and checking facts, but with the computer literacy of the respondents fared worst of all.

26% of Russians demonstrated a high level of basic skills in the digital environment. The digital literacy index was 52 points out of a possible 100. The Russians are characterized by lightheadedness in the field of information security: only 38% of respondents make backups of their data, while 44% of users do not know how to act in case of receiving from a friend of a man of letters with the virus.
